COST OF PLANTATION
Cost per Hectare in First Year is

Saplings (1,100 Nos.): US$ 130 or Rs. 6,000
Fertilizer / Manure: US$ 45 or Rs. 2,000
Labour for plantation: US$ 130 or Rs. 6,000
Irrigation / Plant Protection: US$ 65 or Rs. 3,000
The cost of plantation is around US$ 380 or Rs. 17,000, inclusive of plantation and maintenance for first year.
Cost per Hectare in Second Year is
Replaced Saplings (220 Nos.): US$ 27 orRs. 1,200
Fertilizer / Manure: US$ 10 or Rs. 400
Labour for plantation: US$ 27 or Rs. 1,200
Irrigation / Plant Protection: US$ 13 or Rs. 600

Yearly seed collection = 3,000 Kgs.
Price of seeds expected = 13 cents or Rs. 12 per Kg.

Yearly seed collection = 4,000 Kgs.
Price of seeds expected = 13 cents or Rs. 12 per Kg.

Establishment of Seed Procurement cum Oil Extraction Centers
2000 Ha or 20 square kilometers of plantation will be covered by a collection center.
7500 MT of seed will arrive at the procurement center and suitable facilities to store the seed and extract oil will need to be created.
Cost of Seeds collection centers
If the seed collection center and oil expelling facility is treated as one unit, its cost is estimated as US$ 180,000 or Rs. 8 million per unit.
For all the 2500 units, the total cost is estimated as US$ 440 million or Rs. 20 Billion.

Modern oil expellers with a capacity to crush Jatropha seeds are available in India.
The size of expeller unit should be
1 MT/day (Capital Cost US$ 1,550 or Rs. 70,000),
1 MT / hour (Capital Cost US$ 6,660 or Rs. 3,00,000)
2 MT /hour (Capital Cost US$ 11,110 or Rs. 5,00,000).
Depending on the capacity of the plant the cost of expelling oil will be between 0.5 cent to 2 cents or Re. 0.25 per liter to Re 0.90 per liter of oil.
